DIRECTOR
Jordi Torrent is an award-winning film writer-producer-director based in New York City. He
studied philosophy in Barcelona and film aesthetics in Paris before moving to New York in
1984. There he founded the media production company Duende Pictures in 1989.
He has produced and line produced numerous feature films, including: “My Life Without Me,” “Miotte by Ruiz,” “The Keeper,” “The Golden Boat,” “Asesinado por el Cielo” and “Domain of the Senses.” Jordi's first feature film as writter-director, “East on the Compass,” opened at the 2005 Sitges Film Festival and was selected at other festivals. In 2006 the film was selected by the Lincoln Center Film Society’s program celebrating 100 Years of Catalan filmmaking. His second feature, “The Redemption of the Fish,” was nominated for Best Director at the 2013 Milano International Film Festival. His 2015 documentary “Invisible Heroes: African-Americans in the Spanish Civil War” was selected by DocumentaMadrid among many film festivals and programs around the world. Third Week is his third feature film as writer-director.
